چکیده
Objective To describe 2 cases of Sjögren's syndrome sensory neuronopathy (SSSN) in which early intervention resulted excellent clinical outcomes. Background Acquired neuronopathies (i.e. dorsal root ganglionopathies) are rare neuropathies most commonly associated with (SS) and paraneoplastic syndromes. Design/Methods We patients who presented painful symptoms, sicca symptoms positive SSA antinuclear antibodies. The first patient perceived symmetric hand weakness (despite no motor nerve conduction abnormalities), total body numbness paresthesia, as well ataxia, while the other asymmetric pain left foot hand. electrophysiological profiles varied considerably between patients. demonstrated complete absence action potentials (SNAPs) whereas second had only asymmetrical superficial peroneal sural SNAPs, corresponding his deficit. was diagnosed SSSN, neuropathy SS. treated mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) dramatic symptomatic improvement near recovery deficits. prednisone, methotrexate, ultimately switched to MMF rituximab significant symptoms. Results NA. Conclusions SS is including neuronopathies. Both met diagnostic criteria for though differing severities. date, there has been randomized controlled trial evaluating treatments SSSN. However, our findings suggest that use could result considerable benefit a disease often functionally devastating.

The Utah Early Neuropathy Scale: a sensitive clinical scale for early sensory predominant neuropathy.
Early neuropathy is often sensory predominant and prominently involves small-diameter nerve fibers. Established neuropathy examination scales such as the Michigan Diabetic Neuropathy Scale (MDNS) and the Neuropathy Impairment Score-Lower Leg (NIS-LL) focus primarily on large-fiber sensory and motor function. Here, we validate the Utah Early Neuropathy Scale (UENS), a physical examination scale ...

OBJECTIVES To describe current knowledge on the aetiology, pathology, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV associated nephropathy. METHODS A Medline search was performed using the key words "HIV," "nephropathy," "renal," and "kidney." A further search was performed for each of the currently licensed antiretroviral agents linked to key words "renal" or "kidney" and also using the MeSH heading "phar...

Bronchiolitis obliterans organising peumonia BOO) is an uncommon inflammatory lung condition involving the terminal bronchioles and alveoli, which is responsive to treatment with corticosteroids. Patients usually present with dyspnoea, cough and fever. Two cases are described here; both had haemoptysis and were initially treated as community acquired pneumonia. Diagnosis was made on lung biopsy...

A 24-year old female patient with the history of pressure ulcers in distal extremities resulted in severe deformity will be reported. Her disease started when she was 9 years old and a similar history was found in her brother. In physical examination, pain and temperature sensations were impaired in distal extremities. Nerve conduction velocity showed impaired sensory and normal motor responses...

I N T R O D U C T I O N Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) is a common finding with an exhaustive list of etiologies. Rapidly progressive sensorineural hearing loss is quite distressing to patients as they are abruptly required to function with a reduced level of sensation of their environment. Autoimmune inner ear disease (AIED) is a rare diagnosis and frequently omitted from the differential d...
